Q. What areas do you build in?

Dusty Rhodes Homes proudly builds custom homes throughout the Kansas City metro area, including Overland Park, Olathe, Leawood, Raymore, Stilwell, and Shawnee. We have experience building in various communities across Johnson County and offer expertise in custom home building, local regulations, permitting, land selection, and community amenities. Whether you want to build in an established neighborhood or a newly developed area, we’re ready to help you create your dream home.

Q. What should I expect during the initial consultation?

During the initial consultation, we’ll take the time to understand your vision, lifestyle, and budget. This is where we discuss important details like the location, design preferences, and any special features you’d like to incorporate.

We’ll also provide insights into the process and estimated timelines and answer any questions you have about building a custom home. Whether you have a fully developed idea or are just beginning to explore options, this consultation sets the foundation for a successful project.

Q. What styles of homes do you build?

Our team specializes in various home styles to suit your tastes and needs. Whether you’re looking for a traditional, contemporary, transitional, or French provincial home or something more unique like a modern or rustic farmhouse or ranch-style home, we’ve got you covered.

No matter the style, you can rest assured that we create homes that reflect our clients’—you—personalities. You can also trust that your home will stand the test of time, considering every home we build is crafted with high-quality materials and the latest modern features like smart home technology.

Q. Do you offer warranties?

At Dusty Rhodes Homes, we stand behind the quality of our work with comprehensive warranties. Every Dusty Rhodes Home comes with a 1-year roof-to-foundation warranty that covers the home’s general systems and finishes, ensuring you’re protected against common issues.

In addition, we offer a 2-year mechanical warranty that covers your heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical systems. These warranties give you peace of mind, knowing your investment is safeguarded.

Q. Do you offer custom designs?

For more than 60 years, Dusty Rhodes Homes has been offering client-focused services, including custom designs. We do this because we believe every home should reflect its owner's unique needs and desires. That’s why we work closely with our clients through every step of the design process to ensure their customization needs are met and satisfactory.

Whether you start from scratch or use one of our customizable floor plans, we’ll ensure your home fits your lifestyle. Our design-build approach ensures your vision is brought to life seamlessly and cohesively.

Q. How do I start the home-building process?

Getting started with Dusty Rhodes Homes is easy. The first step is to schedule a consultation, during which we’ll discuss your ideas, budget, and the general scope of your project.

From there, we’ll help you select a lot or build on your own land, finalize a design, and establish a construction timeline. Our experienced team will guide you through every phase, from permitting to the final walk-through, ensuring the entire process is smooth and enjoyable.

Q. How long does the home-building process take?

The timeline for building a custom home varies based on factors like the complexity of the design, permitting, and weather conditions. On average, the process can take anywhere from 8 to 12 months from start to finish, including design, approvals, and construction. Our team will provide a detailed timeline during the planning phase so that you know what to expect.

Q. Can I make changes to the design during the construction process?

Dusty Rhodes Homes offers flexibility throughout the building process, understanding that needs or preferences may change. However, it’s essential to remember that changes made after construction begins can impact the timeline and budget. However, this doesn’t mean we can't work with you to make changes to preexisting plans.

We will work with you to review the requested changes and provide a clear understanding of how they will affect the project. While implementing your changes we’ll keep you abreast of the project because we aim to ensure your home is exactly as you envision it.
